The Shoshone
As part of the Juanita Brooks Conference at Utah State University we were able to tour the Bear River Massacre sites and learn more about the tragic history of the Northwestern Shoshone Tribe. Our guide. Darren Parry is a direct descendant of a survivor of the massacre. His grandmother Mae Timbimboo Parry spent years of her life traveling to Washington to gain acknowledgement and retribution for the horrific attack of her people. It was an honor for us to spend time there and we thank Darren for his time. We share a common history as we, too, continue to learn from the tragedy at Mountain Meadows.
