11 Sep 1857 Mountain Meadows Massacre occurs
15 Jan 1898 Juanita Leone Leavitt born in Bunkerville, Nevada
10 Oct 1919 Juanita Leavitt marries Leonard Pulsipher who later dies only two years later in 1921.
28 Sep 1920 Leonard Ernest Pulsipher Jr (Ernie) was born in Bunkerville, Nevada
1928 -29 Attends Columbia University in NYC and graduates with a Masters Degree
Sep 1932 Due to the persistence of Juanita, who attended the event, Utah Pioneer Trails and Landmarks Association built a protective stone wall and placed a bronze marker around the original 1859 grave site of the Massacre victims.
25 May 1933 Juanita marries William Brooks
1941 Juanita self publishes her first book Dudley Leavitt - Pioneer to Southern Utah
May 1859 Major James H. Carlton constructs the original cairn monument and gravesite at Mountain Meadows
May 1864 U.S. Army Captain George F. Price and his cavalry company visited Mountain Meadows. They gathered scattered human bones, buried them in a common grave, and built a large stone cairn topped with a wooden cross over the site
11 Sep 1877 John D. Lee executed at the massacre site
1950 Juanita Brooks publishes The Mountain Meadows Massacre at age 52
4 Sep 1955 Monument dedicated in Harrison, Boone County, Arkansas listing names of the victims. Juanita was in attendance at this dedication.
April 1965 Lytle Family donates Mountain Meadows property to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
26 Aug 1989 Juanita passes away at the age of 91
15 Sept 1990 A new monument is dedicated with support from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the State of Utah
11 Sept 1999 Dedication of the current cairn, memorial wall, and surrounding area by Gordon B. Hinckley. 1,000 descendants as well as family of Juanita and locals of the area were in attendance
25 Sep 2005 Monument dedicated near a cemetery and the Old Yell Lodge in Carrollton, Arkansas (where surviving children were returned), featuring a large cross facing west toward Utah
2008 Dedicated in Harrison, Arkansas located on the Courthouse lawn, this monument further honors the local Arkansans lost in the tragedy.
2007 and 2009 The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints acquires local family deeds and an additional 16 acres to prevent development at Mountain Meadows.
9 Feb 2011 Massacre at Mountain Meadows was published. It was written by Ronald W. Walker, Richard E. Turley, Glen M. Leonard under the direction of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
10 Sep 2011 Men and Boys Monument dedicated at Mountain Meadows
11 Sep 2014 Monument to Women, Children and Wounded dedicated and the massacre site
2017 New individual granite markers for each known person killed, including names like Alexander and Eliza Fancher, were added to the 1999 Memorial.
30 May 2023 Vengeance is Mine is published. This follow up volume is written by Richard E. Turley and Barbara Jones Brown.
